Does it cost extra to text someone from puerto rico?

I have an unlimited plan from Tmobile. My friend who also lives here in the US just went for a vacation in puerto rico.. she also has unlimited. Will it cost extra to text her while he's over there? I mean he doesnt necessarily live there nor does he have a puerto rican telephone line.. Verizon to be exact. soo does it cost?
